Tour Description
The coach departs from Grosvenor Gardens and heads first to Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and a favorite weekend residence of the British monarchy. Set on a wooded hill overlooking the River Thames, the castle dates back nearly 1,000 years to William the Conqueror. You'll step inside the magnificent State Apartments, adorned with masterpieces by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, visit St George's Chapel — the final resting place of monarchs including Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth II — and explore Queen Mary's Dolls' House, an extraordinary miniature palace complete with working lifts, electricity, and tiny bottles of wine.
Next, the coach moves on to Stonehenge, one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Salisbury Plain. You'll walk around the mysterious stone circle and marvel at the massive stones that have stood for over 5,000 years. Your guide covers the latest theories on its purpose — ceremonial temple, astronomical calendar, or burial ground — as archaeologists continue to uncover its secrets.
The tour then continues to Bath, England's first UNESCO World Heritage city, renowned for its elegant Georgian architecture and rich history along the River Avon. Take free time to admire Bath Abbey, the sweeping Georgian terraces, and the picturesque Pulteney Bridge — one of the few bridges in the world lined with shops. Finally, head inside the Roman Baths, one of the best-preserved Roman spa complexes in the world. Built around Britain's only natural hot spring, the site was hidden for centuries before being rediscovered in the 19th century. Walk through the atmospheric ruins, see the steaming Great Bath, and learn how the Romans transformed this sacred site into a thriving social and relaxation center nearly 2,000 years ago. The coach returns to London, arriving at approximately 8:00 PM.
