6-Day Best of South Italy Tour Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Welcome to Naples

Upon arriving in Naples, make your way to the hotel and check in. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace — take a leisurely stroll through the city's vibrant streets and start soaking in the local charm and atmosphere.

  2. Day 2

Naples Walking Tour & Street Food Experience

Your day tour starts at the Duomo di Napoli — officially the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta but better known as the Duomo di San Gennaro. From here, stroll along lively Via dei Tribunali, lined with shops, cafés and local charm. Taste the traditional Tarallo Napoletano, a spicy almond cookie, at the city's oldest bakery. Continue to San Gregorio Armeno, the famous "street of nativity scenes," where artisans craft detailed cribs and figurines. Visit a historic workshop and receive a lucky Neapolitan Corno.

Next, step into the serene Chiesa di Santa Chiara, a Gothic church and monastery with a small museum and library. Nearby, in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, admire one of Naples' most beautiful squares, framed by the Gesù Nuovo Church and the ornate Guglia dell'Immacolata. Walk along Spaccanapoli and stop at Piazza San Domenico Maggiore to enjoy a cuoppo napoletano. Then visit elegant Galleria Umberto I, a 19th-century glass-domed arcade, and the historic Teatro San Carlo, the world's oldest working opera house. Finally, stroll down Via Toledo toward Piazza del Plebiscito, explore the colourful Spanish Quarters, and end your day with a folded pizza portafoglio, followed by a baba or sfogliatella and Neapolitan espresso.

  3. Day 3

    Pompeii and Sorrento

Your day begins with a scenic drive from Naples to Pompeii for a 2.5-hour guided tour. Enter through Porta Marina to explore the Forum — Pompeii's political and commercial heart. Stroll along Via dell'Abbondanza with its shops and chariot tracks, visit the Theater District, bath complex, colourful Lupanare, and a Thermopolium — an ancient street food stop. See the grand House of the Faun with its famed Alexander Mosaic, the lively Macellum market, and the haunting plaster casts of Pompeii's final moments.

Continue to Sorrento for a leisurely afternoon by the sea. Enjoy a guided walk from lively Piazza Tasso through the old town. Admire Vallone dei Mulini's green gorge, Sorrento's ornate Cathedral, and the serene Cloister of San Francesco. From Villa Comunale, take in sweeping Bay of Naples views. Discover local wood inlay artistry, then enjoy free time for lunch, shopping, or relaxing along Sorrento's sunlit coast before returning to Naples.

  4. Day 4

    Positano, Amalfi & Ravello

Experience the Amalfi Coast and uncover the cliffside treasures of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Meet your guide in Naples and board a bus to Positano. Upon arrival in Amerigo Vespucci Square, enjoy an hour of free time to explore the beaches, cafés and boutiques before heading to Amalfi by scenic boat (or bus in winter).

Spend two hours discovering Amalfi at your leisure — visit the striking Sant'Andrea Cathedral or take an optional boat ride (extra fee). End your journey in enchanting Ravello, with an hour to wander its streets, savour local gelato, or admire Villa Rufolo's sea-view gardens before returning to Naples.

  5. Day 5

    Capri, Anacapri & Blue Grotto

Discover the enchanting Blue Grotto on this unforgettable experience. Cruise along the breathtaking coastline by speedboat, taking in the crystal waters and dramatic cliffs. From Marina Grande, ascend to the island's heights where the Blue Grotto awaits. Step into a small paddle boat and be captivated by the cave's otherworldly blue glow. Inside, admire the rock formations and sunlight dancing on the waves — an experience of pure magic.

Embrace the serenity of this natural wonder before exploring more island gems, from Anacapri's charming streets to Capri's iconic landmarks. Please note: during peak season, visiting the Blue Grotto may involve long lines and limited capacity.
