Day 1
Palermo
Make your own way to Palermo and check into your hotel upon arrival. Once settled, enjoy dinner at the hotel and rest up ahead of the days to come.
-
Day 2
Monreale – Palermo
Following breakfast at the hotel, set off for Monreale to visit its UNESCO-listed town and magnificent Cathedral. Take some time to browse the local shops before returning to Palermo for a guided walking tour of the Old Town, taking in the Cathedral and a variety of other historic landmarks. The afternoon is free to unwind before dinner at the hotel.
-
Day 3
Erice – Marsala – Agrigento
An early breakfast starts the day, followed by a journey to Erice — a medieval village perched high on Monte San Giuliano. The morning is spent wandering its narrow alleys before continuing to Marsala for a wine tasting and a relaxed lunch at a local tavern. The coach then heads to Agrigento, where the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Temples awaits, with its remarkable Greek monuments including the Temple of Concord and the Temple of Hercules. Check into your hotel and enjoy dinner.
-
Day 4
Ragusa
After breakfast, depart for Ragusa. The historic Baroque quarter of Ibla is the focus for the day, with its impressive palaces and churches including the San Giorgio gate, Giardini Iblei gardens, San Giuseppe church and the Cathedral of San Giorgio. The Church of the Souls in Purgatory and Cosentini Palace are also on the itinerary before returning to the hotel for dinner.
-
Day 5
Noto – Syracuse – Taormina
Beginning with breakfast at the hotel, the route heads first to Noto — a town celebrated for its remarkable Baroque architecture. The recently restored Cathedral of San Nicolò and the historic town centre are among the highlights. The journey continues along the southern coast to Syracuse, situated on the southeastern tip of the island. A walk through Ortygia island reveals Baroque churches and medieval palaces before the group moves on to Taormina, nestled in the hills above the coast. Check into your centrally located hotel and enjoy dinner.
-
Day 6
Mount Etna – Taormina
After breakfast, the day's destination is Mount Etna — the largest active volcano in Europe. The sweeping landscape of ancient lava flows and black magma rock makes for a striking setting, and weather permitting, the group can ascend to approximately 1,800 metres near the summit. The return to Taormina in the afternoon leaves time to stroll through town and explore at your own pace.
