Magical Sicily & Malta – 11 Days Itinerary

Make your way to your hotel in Catania or in the picturesque seaside town of Acitrezza, famous for its striking Faraglioni rocks. Private transfer available upon request with extra charge. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, set out for Syracuse, one of Sicily’s most remarkable ancient Greek settlements and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Discover the Archaeological Park of Neapolis with its Greek Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre, Latomie of Paradise, and the Ear of Dionysius. Continue to Ortigia, the old town of Syracuse, to admire the Cathedral, originally a Doric temple.

Enjoy free time for lunch, then travel to Noto, celebrated for its exquisite Sicilian Baroque style. Visit Palazzo Nicolaci Villadorata and wander through the city’s elegant streets.

End the day in Ragusa with dinner and an overnight stay.

Begin the day in Ragusa Ibla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its Baroque beauty and known as a filming location for Inspector Montalbano. This charming old town is home to over 50 churches and countless Baroque gems.

Continue to Modica, another UNESCO treasure, famed for its architecture and traditional chocolate. Enjoy a chocolate tasting at Sabadì, paired with local specialties in the scenic Orti di San Giorgio gardens.

End the day in Piazza Armerina with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Villa Romana del Casale, renowned for its extraordinary mosaics illustrating myth and history. Travel on to Agrigento for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit Monreale to admire its grand Norman Cathedral, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World, and the stunning Arab-Norman Cloister with intricate stone inlays.

Continue to Palermo, set beneath Mount Pellegrino, where history and art blend in a mix of cultures and styles. Explore the Cathedral, the Martorana Church, and the splendid Cappella Palatina, each reflecting centuries of diverse influences.

Enjoy free time for lunch (not included), then see iconic sights such as the Teatro Massimo and the famous fountain in Pretoria Square. Overnight in a Palermo hotel.

After breakfast, head to Cefalù, a picturesque medieval town on Sicily’s northern coast. Visit its impressive Norman Cathedral, then enjoy free time to wander the charming streets or explore the renowned Mandralisca Museum.

Continue to Catania to discover its UNESCO-listed historic center, celebrated for its unique Baroque style and black lava stone streets accented with white limestone. Begin at Duomo square with its grand Cathedral and the Liotru, the lava-stone elephant symbol of the city. Stroll through University Square and along Via dei Crociferi, lined with 18th-century landmarks, including the UNESCO-listed Monastery of San Benedetto.

Pause at a traditional café to savor the classic “granita & brioche.” Overnight stay at the hotel.

Start the day with a short visit to Catania’s famous pescheria, the old fish market, before setting out for Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest volcano and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Covering 59,000 hectares, the park protects unique landscapes, wildlife, and age-old traditions such as beekeeping and winemaking. Travel to Rifugio Sapienza to explore the inactive Silvestri Craters, framed by ancient lava fields. Sample local honey and specialties, then enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to Taormina, celebrated for its spectacular sea views and the iconic Greek Theatre, overlooking Giardini Naxos Bay and Mount Etna. Spend free time wandering the medieval streets, browsing shops for coral jewelry and ceramics, or admiring the Riviera dei Ciclopi. Return to Catania for overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy some free time to explore Catania’s city center. Depending on flight times, a private transfer will take you to the airport for your direct flight to Malta. From this point, the tour continues independently, without the tour leader. Upon arrival, transfer privately to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Spend the day discovering Malta’s highlights, beginning with the fortified towns of Cottonera. Continue to the lively fishing village of Marsaxlokk before heading out to the Blue Grotto, where the sea glows in dazzling shades of blue. End the tour in the countryside at Dingli, then return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, a private driver takes you to Bugibba to board a scenic cruise along Malta’s north coast. Stop at Comino’s famous Blue Lagoon for swimming and relaxation, then continue to Gozo for about three hours to visit landmarks such as Ta’ Pinu, Dwejra, Victoria, and the Citadel of St. George. Sail back in the late afternoon, circling Comino and exploring its caves before transferring to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, set out on a guided half-day tour of Valletta.

Visit Casa Rocca Piccola, a 16th-century palace still owned by the Marquis De Piro, and St. John’s Cathedral to admire Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of St. John the Baptist. Take in sweeping views from the Barraca Gardens before continuing to the Grand Master’s Palace.

Later, travel to Mdina, the island’s former capital, to see St. Paul’s Cathedral and stroll its charming streets at your own pace. Return to the hotel for a free afternoon and overnight stay.
